The Robert Vasen Foundation (RVF)
A fully accredited 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to continuing the spirit, values, and activities of Robert Vasen by fostering action within the community around the challenges that young people face.

RVF is partnering with local nonprofit organizations to create programs that provide physical, psychological, and emotional support to local youth. We closely monitor results and ensure a measurable impact in everything we do. Each program is established to serve existing and critical – but unmet needs – within our community.
Board Members
David Cahill
David is a commercial real estate broker with JLL, specializing in tenant and landlord representation in the south King County Industrial market. David is a Bellevue native growing up as a childhood friend of Robert and the Vasen family. David and Robert went to school together from Elementary through college and also played on many sports teams together. Along with many of Robert’s friends, David helped create the ‘Advisory Board’ a group of young professionals comprised of many of Robert’s friends. The Advisory board assisted the Board members and also put on annual events as well as volunteer opportunities. David currently resides in Seattle with his wife Ashley and daughters Kennedy and Georgi.​

Mac Martin
Mac currently manages commercial real estate development projects in the Greater Seattle and Portland areas for Martin Development. He lived and worked abroad for several years, most recently working for non-profits in East Africa. Mac has been involved with the Foundation since its inception and hosted the “Swim for Rob” for 7 years. He grew up in the Bellevue area and met Robert at Medina Elementary where they became life-long friends, often traveling together on family vacations. Mac currently resides on Bainbridge Island with his wife Meghan and their three boys, Rowan, Lockie and Bec.

Tony Rona
Tony is a tenant advisor with Washington Partners, Inc., specializing in the representation of tenants in the Greater Eastside marketplace with an emphasis on life science and technology companies. Tony is a Mercer Island native and was a teammate of Roberts for many years on their Eastside FC premier team. Along with David Cahill, Tony, helped create the ‘Advisory Board’ which is a group of young professionals comprised of many of Robert’s friends. The Advisory board helps assist the Board members and also puts on annual events as well as volunteer opportunities. Tony currently resides in Bellevue with his wife, Jen.
​Dave Vasen
Dave is the founder & CEO of brightwheel. Before brightwheel, Dave has led in product, business development, and strategy roles across in both the Bay Area and Seattle. With Cisco Systems, he helped establish and grow tech education centers in the developing world to empower local populations. With Bain & Company, he consulted for Fortune 100 companies in a variety of industries and practice areas. At Amazon, he launched the K-12 Education initiative for Kindle. And he served as the VP of Product for AltSchool. He holds a BA from Stanford University and an MBA from The Wharton School. He lives with his wife and daughter in San Francisco.

Evelyn Vasen
Evelyn's professional career began with IBM Brazil, followed by nearly eleven years at PACCAR Inc in Bellevue. She then held management positions in information systems with CooperVision, Generra Sportswear, and later Microsoft. Her last position at Microsoft was as a liaison to organizations assisting people with disabilities, observing first-hand how technology, creativity and dedication can make a difference. Evelyn holds a BA degree in Economics from Brazil, and a MBA from the University of Washington. Born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, she met her husband, Daniel, while an exchange student in the US. They later settled in Seattle, raising three children– Jackie, David and Robert.

J. Michael Rona
Mike Rona has led a distinguished career in healthcare, working with Virginia Mason Medical Center – a regional, nonprofit integrated healthcare system – since 1981 and serving as its President from 1991 to 2007. Currently, he serves as Founder and Principal of Rona Consulting, applying the Toyota Production System to the healthcare industry to create zero-defect quality and to reduce costs. Mike attended Whitman College and received a Masters Degree in Health Administration from the University of Washington. He is married to one of his best friends from college with three great children: Luke, Nell, and Tony.
Mike Flood
Mike serves as the VP of Community for the Seattle Seahawks and Sounders FC. Mike enters his 14th season with the Seahawks after joining the staff on July 1, 1997. Flood served as Community Outreach Director for Football Northwest prior to joining the Seahawks. He helped spearhead the state-wide campaign that resulted in the passage of Referendum 48 to build the new football/soccer stadium and exhibition complex. A Seattle native, Flood attended Blanchet High School for three years before graduating from McLean High School in McLean, Virginia. He received a B.A. Degree in Industrial Education from Washington State University and a Master's Degree in Education from the University of North Carolina. He managed Public Relations for the Coast Guard in Kodiak, Alaska. From 1994-96 he was the Air/Sea Rescue Operations Officer for coastal Oregon and Washington. Flood retired as a Commander in 1996 after 20 years in the service. He and his wife Marty, have a son Dan and a daughter, Shannon.

Tod Leiweke
Tod is Chief Executive Officer of Tampa Bay Sports and Entertainment. Tod was previously CEO of the Seattle Seahawks and Vulcan Sports & Entertainment for seven years, overseeing all aspects of the Portland Trail Blazers and the Seattle Sounders FC. While in Seattle, Tod chaired a 2008-09 United Way campaign that raised more than $100 million to fight family homelessness and was instrumental in forming the "Spirit of 12" Partnerships which raised more than $1.5 million for Puget Sound charities. Tod is a native of St. Louis, Mo. and is married to Tara. The couple has two children, Tyler and Tori.

Pat McDonald
Pat has been involved with the nonprofit world for more than 25 years as a community volunteer, board member and executive director. Pat served on the Board of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center for more than 15 years and continues to be involved as a member of the Emeritus Council. For seven and one half years, she served as the Executive Director for Ronald McDonald House Charities of Western Washington. She retired two years ago from that position after leading a capital campaign which raised more than 12 million dollars and seeing the completion of a second Ronald McDonald House which provides housing for 84 families each night. Pat lives in Bellevue with her husband, Bob.
Scott Coombs
Scott has held senior management positions with several of the areas prominent real estate companies, including CBRE, Spieker Properties, Unico, Equity Office and Colliers. He currently serves as President of NAI Puget Sound Properties, where he is responsible for all aspects of the company operations. Scott has been active in youth sports programs as a board member and a coach, and has served as a Director for numerous organizations including The Bellevue and Kirkland Chambers of Commerce, and the Bellevue Boys and Girls Clubs. He is currently on the Board of the Commercial Brokers Association, and is active in numerous real estate industry organizations. Scott resides in Bellevue with his wife Terri, and has four adult children.
Tom Phillips
Tom has 20 years of product, marketing and executive management experience at Nike, including key global leadership roles with Nike’s Children’s Division, Cross Training / Fitness, and several startup divisions. In addition, he was instrumental in creating NIKE’s P.L.A.Y. (Participate in the Lives of All Youth) initiative focused on supporting youth recreational programs around the world. Tom was the VP Marketing/Sales for World2Market, an innovative e-commerce company focused on socially responsible consumer products, and currently holds the position of VP Marketing at Geocaching HQ here in Seattle. He lives on Mercer Island with his wife and two beautiful daughters.
